Property Details
Courtyard Cottage is a luxury holiday cottage in Burford, in the heart of the Cotswolds, sleeping 3 guests across 2 bedrooms.
A year ago, Courtyard Cottage’s owners came to us as they prepared for a new life in South Africa, and asked us to care for the home they’d just restored, opening it as a holiday cottage for others to enjoy.
Down a gated alley off Burford’s High Street, marked by a pair of green gates, Courtyard Cottage sits in the old grounds of Bear Court, a 16th-century coaching inn. Hidden from the street, yet only moments from it, this is a rare kind of quiet in one of the Cotswolds’ best-known towns.
Inside, a hand-built orangery floods the ground floor with light, and every room has been finished with the same unhurried care, in timber, stone and hand-painted colour. Courtyard Cottage is for anyone who wants Burford on their doorstep and a private, south-facing garden to come home to.

Exploring Nearby
Burford’s sloping High Street and honey-coloured stone make it one of the best-known towns in the Cotswolds. From Courtyard Cottage, all of it is a few quiet minutes’ walk away, even though you’d never spot the cottage from the street itself. Independent shops, good coffee and a proper Sunday lunch are all close by.
The River Windrush runs through the town, with peaceful walking routes along its banks, and the surrounding countryside opens out quickly into classic Cotswold scenery. Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm and The Farmer’s Dog pub are a short drive away, if you don’t mind the queues.
Further afield, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Daylesford are all within easy reach by car, and Cirencester is around half an hour away for further shopping and restaurants. For longer stays, Charlbury station has direct trains into London.
