Exploring the Cotswolds from Fairford
Fairford sits perfectly for exploring the southern Cotswolds. Lechlade and the upper Thames are a few minutes away, and Bibury, widely regarded as the prettiest village in England, is fifteen minutes by car, where Arlington Row and the old trout farm are worth an unhurried morning.
Cirencester is twenty minutes and rewards a full day, with independent shops, twice-weekly markets, the Corinium Museum and one of the largest Roman amphitheatres in Britain. Fairford is a proper working Cotswold town rather than a film set, which is exactly what makes it worth staying in.
